Description

It was with great pleasure that we accepted the owner's invitation to visit his villa Son Calet, which is located near the village of Muro. The preliminary data alone seemed suitable: a rustic villa, completely renovated in 2015 and thus extensively modernised, on an impressive 120,000 m² plot and yet with good access to shopping facilities and relatively close to the beach. These are all parameters that fit perfectly with the villas already on offer in our programme. However, when we visited the villa to view it from our clients' perspective, the anticipation turned to outright excitement, as the trendy Villa Son Calet has indeed been renovated to an incredible extent and therefore exudes a special charm with a thoroughly fashionable, stylish atmosphere. If you value design and quality, this is the place for you.

The smooth plastered façade, which has been broken up by rough stone fragments, also reveals the symbiosis between continuing tradition and more contemporary aspects of the building. This symbiosis is also reflected in the interior layout of the villa. An open-plan layout was chosen for this villa, creating a flowing transition between the living room, dining room and kitchen, which together form the communal living space of the property. The living area is flooded with natural light thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows. The exposed wooden beam ceilings, the white walls and the large grey floor tiles make this area a very pleasant place to spend time. This area is furnished in a truly harmonious and high-quality design: From the spacious white sofa in front of the swivelling LCD TV, the long glass table with the swing chairs and the chic chrome seats to the kitchen, you will find nothing but absolute quality. The high-quality high-gloss fitted kitchen includes a kitchen island that visually separates the kitchen from the dining area. It goes without saying that the fittings and equipment that make your everyday life easier are of the highest technical standard. A small piece of tradition can also be recognised here when you look at a section of an old, exposed stone wall, which appears to be in a picture frame. The deliberately placed furniture and the large-format pictures on the walls are also striking. A chest of drawers in the entrance area, for example, not only provides storage space, but is also a work of art in its own right thanks to its design. In carefully planned and professionally realised details, we also come across more and more overlaps between design and art in the other rooms (even in the bedrooms). In both bathrooms, for example, we can expect top-quality tiling, unusual bathroom accessories and superior comfort. There are 2 bedrooms, each with a double bed and a double room with two single beds. Each room has its own, slightly different style, with elaborate lamps and light fittings and a pleasant living and sleeping atmosphere. In one of the bedrooms, a piece of undressed brickwork has been brought out from behind the wall, as it were, and given a cool pink-violet colour by indirect lighting. Another confrontation between modern, purist design and Mallorcan tradition, and it works perfectly.

We now leave the exciting house, in which there is much more to discover than we have been able to describe here, and ask you to accompany us to the garden area. There are numerous lawn and patio areas. Where the actual garden ends, the grounds belonging to the villa begin. Covering an area of 120,000 m², you will find yourself in a completely secluded environment where absolute privacy is guaranteed. Hundreds of orange trees are among the many other types of vegetation on the property, which can hardly be fully recognised with the naked eye. From the house itself, you can access the sun terrace, in which the fantastic 60 m² infinity pool is nestled. Illuminated at will in the evening, you can relax after a good swim on one of the trendy, ergonomically shaped loungers (under one of the 3 parasols if you wish) or perhaps enjoy a sunbath, a siesta or a good book on the Balinese bed. The extension of the terrace leads to an equally large dining area with designer chairs around a simple outdoor kitchen, where there is also a built-in barbecue, so there is absolutely nothing to stop you enjoying a cosy evening around the barbecue with your whole group and a good glass of Mallorcan wine to accompany you.

However, should you decide to leave the property to explore the surrounding area, your hire car will take you to numerous attractive towns and villages, all of which are within easy reach. The stylish Villa Son Calet is an estimated 5-minute drive from the northern Mallorcan town of Muro. There you have the option of buying groceries in the various supermarkets or at the Sunday market, making the conscious decision to be self-sufficient as easy as possible. There are also a number of cafés and bars in Muro that will provide you with snacks and coffee. We can only warmly recommend exploring the surrounding holiday resorts, such as the former fishing village of Can Picafort, which still retains its authentic character yet is full of restaurants, bars, boutiques and nightclubs. A visit to the village of Santa Margarita, which is picturesquely surrounded by fields and was the first place where the people of the municipality made their home, is also highly recommended. For a day at the beach, you only have to travel a few kilometres in your hire car to get to places such as the bay of Alcúdia, San Baulo beach or Can Picafort beach, to name just a few of the many spectacular beaches in the area. The possibilities are many and varied, just like the impressive Villa Son Calet itself, a holiday home for which we at Fincallorca give an unreserved recommendation. The incredibly stylish Villa Son Calet is a property that was renovated in 2015 and furnished with a modern approach in a fabulously trendy interior style. The villa sits on a 120,000 m² plot close to the northern Mallorcan village of Muro, which is just a 5-minute drive away. The many beaches of the bay of Alcúdia as well as its bars and restaurants are only a few kilometres away by rental car.
